Used for qualitative determination of cardiac myoglobin in human whole blood/serum/plasma as an aid for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.
- Within the first few hours after chest pain, its sensitivity is greater than CK-MB and Troponin I.
- Its serum levels increase within 2 hours after infarction reaching peak concentrations in 6-9 hours.
- Sensitive but non-specific marker of AMI. It is present in both skeletal and cardiac muscles.
Sensitivity: 100%, Specificity: 98.4%, + Predictive V: 92.0%, - Predictive V: 100% Cut-off: 50 ng/ml
